When we were contemplating holiday party fare in the Dinner4Two kitchen, cheese balls kept coming up. Everyone kept naming different cheese balls they had had at different parties; words like, I couldn’t stop eating it and I just had to have the recipe resounded in the kitchen.

There’s such a huge variety and they’re the perfect kind of food for sharing as a dinner appetizer, a take along to a holiday or office party or even to give as a neighbor gift. Our Gorgonzola, cranberry and walnut cheese ball will deliver the right kind of holiday cheer; it’s colorful with the cranberries and full of delicious savory flavor.

This cheese ball will be your go to 10 minute appetizer to take with you to parties.  It’s super easy and addicting, we couldn’t stop eating it!

Here’s a couple of  tricks to making a cheese balls; take the package of cream cheese out of the fridge several hours in advance so it’s nice and soft and at room temperature.  Also if you’re making this right before walking out the door and you don’t have time to put it in the fridge to firm up just scoop the entire mixture into a small bowl and pop a knife in it. We suggest you make a couple at time to have extras on hand for that last minute party invite. They will keep in the fridge for up to ten days.

Ingredients (1 Cheese ball)

  • 1 8oz package of cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup gorgonzola crumbles
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, for rolling in

Instructions

  1. Mix together the room temperature cream cheese, gorgonzola crumbles, cranberries, honey & finely chopped walnuts with a mixer.
  2. Wet your hands and form entire mixture into a ball. Roll in walnuts to coat the outside of the ball. We found it easier to coat the cheese ball if we spread walnuts on a plate and then roll the cheese ball in it.
  3. Wrap in plastic wrap and place in fridge until ready to serve. Let sit for 1 Hour.
